The term BIPOC its Origins from Bi-Sexual to Black Indigenous

There are Billions of Dollars being allocated to this term each year in Federal and State funds, Scholarships , Grants , discounts and more.  In 2019-2020 the term took a major turn from one Sub-culture community into yet another generic blanket term where all minority groups can take advantage on the backs of “ Black “ people and the American Indians in Urban America.

In recent years, the term BIPOC has gained widespread usage in discussions about race and identity. BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and it has become a way to highlight the experiences and perspectives of marginalized communities within broader conversations about race. However, the origins of the term BIPOC are not widely known, and its evolution from its original meaning to its current usage is a fascinating journey.

Origins of BIPOC: 2013

The term BIPOC originally emerged in the LGBTQ+ community as an acronym for "Bi-Sexual People of Color." It was used to recognize and address the intersectional experiences of individuals who identified as both people of color and as part of the LGBTQ+ community. This early usage of the term highlighted the unique challenges faced by individuals who navigated multiple marginalized identities.

Over time, the term BIPOC underwent a transformation and expanded beyond its original scope. It evolved to include Black and Indigenous communities, Some argue that lumping together Black and Indigenous experiences with those of other people of color may overlook the unique historical and contemporary struggles faced by Black and Indigenous communities. Additionally, the term BIPOC may inadvertently reinforce the marginalization of non-Black and non-Indigenous people of color within discussions about race.
